So I've never been a fan of blogging . . .why you might ask?? I have no desire to write about myself or share my thoughts via blog. Part of it is because I don't feel like my life is interesting. That in itself is funny cause my life motto seems to be "Never A Dull Moment!"
From the end of 2009 to the beginning of 2010 and on my life has been one big roller coaster ride of ups and downs. But hey . . . it's what keeps life interesting! In the middle of those ups and downs I have had many mini escapes to keep me sane.
In the past 4 months I have been to New York City, Charleston, Baltimore, DC, Lexington, all over the Outer Banks and so on. I spend half my time on the road and it is soooo worth it!! The other half is spent working, going to school and active in church. Basically, I work hard so I can play harder:)
I don't want to spend to much time cataloging all of this so I'll share some highlight moments. . .
If I had to pick one place to spend the rest of my life it would be defnitely be at the beach. I absolutely love lazy days of beach bummin. This year I went to the Duck Beach Memorial Weekend Mormon get together with a bunch of friends. The weekend was spent socializing and having fun. Then majority of everyone left by tuesday and the rest of the week was spent relaxing pool side or in a hammock. One of my favorite things was getting to see the wild horses on the beach because it is something I've wanted to do since I was a little girl. Now I can check that off my want to do list.
New York City was an eventful trip and I was so glad that we went. It started off with wanting to see Michael Buble in concert which gave us a great reason to go to NYC . . . not that I really needed a reason. I went with Claire, Victoria and Stephanie, who are some of my favorite travel companions. We went to a Knicks game and Michael Buble concert. We also did some shopping at Tiffany's and went up the Empire State Building at night. You can't travel to New York without partaking of their fabulous food. If you ever want the best pizza and cheesecake, go to Angelo's and I promise you will not be disappointed!! It was a great trip and I'm already planning a return trip in the works for this fall.
Once a month I usually can be found in DC and Lexington. My parents live in Lexington, VA. It is a small, quaint town and the drive there is beautiful. I have spent more time there this year than I ever have since they moved up there after I graduated high school. The reason being is that since before Christmas my Mom has been sick. She gave us all quite a scare during the holidays and still to this day they can't pin point exactly what is wrong. I would be lying if I said that it isn't something that weighs heavy on my mind. However, the blessing of this trial is that my family is closer than it has ever been. So for now my family is muddling through this and praying for a happy ending.
My travels to DC monthly are to attend the Washington, DC temple. Since going through on July 3rd, 2009 my life has been so blessed. I have seen and felt the blessings of regular temple attendance. It is so comforting to be reminded of my Heavenly Father's love every time I am there. It has truly kept me grounded over the past year. I also appreciate getting to share those moments in the temple with some of my dearest friends. Which on that note brings me to this past 4th of July weekend. On this past Saturday, July 3rd I was in the temple with dear friends. It had been exactly a year since I went through for the first time and brought back all those wonderful feelings of joy, peace and love. It was a great start to the festivities of the holiday weekend.
What a cute layout!! Looking forward to reading.
